2018 is a big anniversary year for Redwood National Park. We celebrate 50 years since the 1968 park creation and 40 years since the 1978 park expansion. In my opinion the 1978 park expansion is the one to really celebrate here in the North Coast, giving us a park that could be protected from damage from upslope and upstream logging.
Dozens, no, hundreds of local residents insisted that the whole of the lower Redwood Creek watershed be included in the park, not just the narrow strip by the creek. Remember, we called it The Worm? The Emerald Creek Committee led the way on so much of that seemingly endless effort. And Steve Madrone was in the forefront. Lucky for all of us Steve Madrone continues to act on his conviction that we need strong environmental stewardship for a strong future economy. And he is running for Humboldt County Board of Supervisors!
Please, 5th District voters, put Steve Madrone on the Board of Supervisors for Humboldt County on June 5.
